Now, yellow peaches are ripe in Minzu Village, Miao’ertan Town, Longshan County, Xiangxi Prefecture, and villagers are busy picking, carrying and packaging them.
In 2017, the village developed the yellow peach industry according to local conditions. A total of 1.6 million yuan was invested to build a 300-mu (20 hectares) yellow peach industry base and a 500-cubic-meter yellow peach preservation storage warehouse.
A professional cooperative for yellow peach planting in Longshan County was established, and profits were shared by farmers and village collectives in a “cooperative plus farmer” model.
Minzu Village has fertile soil and long sunshine hours. It adheres to ecological planting methods, applies organic fertilizers such as pig manure and eliminates the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
At present, the village’s yellow peaches have generated more than 100,000 yuan of income for the village collective economy, and it is expected that the output this year will reach more than 10,000 kilograms with an income of more than 200,000 yuan.
Yellow peaches not only bring income to the village collective, but also offer job opportunities for 600 people.
